As previously posted in our article GMH.com - Poor Management at Hughes, GMH.com was auctioned in a pre-release at Namejet for the sum of $13,600 on September 8th 2009. Today we received notification that this domain is up for re-auction, with 192 bidders in the list instead of the original 197 bidders.

Previous high bidder was adam786 who defaulted.

Previous competing bidder was Gooner who is in the auction again. Gooner bid through $13,400 so may be likely to do so again, and has probably already set a max bid in this range.

What will this domain go for this time? Probably less, but that depends on who will be entering this time around.

If you are interested in bidding in this auction, you can use our proxy bid service. Please note our rates for auctions of this level:

  • $100 fee for bidding, even if you lose the auction. This fee is charged at the time of bidding and is non-refundable. You can enter as many bids as you like and we will act as your proxy for this flat fee.
  • If your bid wins, we will hold the name in our account for up to 5 days. Our 5% commision will be immediately charged to your card and is non-refundable. The total amount for the domain is still due.
  • You must complete the transaction via EscrowDNS.com within the 5 day period or we reserve the right to locate buyers for the domain. If a buyer is found within 10 days of auction close at an equal or higher price, your bid amount will be refunded, but not the proxy fee and commission. If no buyer is found we will be forced to charge you an additional 10% fee for defaulting on the name.
  • All buyers must be able to present a valid credit card for the transaction and must sign and fax/scan an approval form in order to bid.

Final .ME Release sales at Namejet

Yesterday, Friend.me pulled a stunning move and closed out as the best .ME auction at Namejet this week, topping previous sale of Host.Me for $15,200. The three final .ME auctions were:

friend.me - $21,100 - 10/2/2009
fix.me - $2,000 -  10/2/2009
link.me - $2,700 -  10/2/2009

Both myself and one of my proxy bidders found friend.me to be a shocker. Two big bidders, Uma and Lcomco, ran the auction away from the nearest high bid of $2,000 which was set days earlier. Both bidders fought dollar by dollar all the way up until Uma was proved victorious with the 21k bid. It will be interesting to see who this turns out to be in the next few days. As of now this is still registered to premium@domain.me

Incredible sale for buyer and seller!

Namejet's second big .ME release auction ended with a bang as HOST.ME hit the 15k mark. A full recap so far follows:

Domain Name Type Source Winning Bid End Date
host.me Private Pre-Release $15,200 10/1/2009
review.me Private Pre-Release $1,610 10/1/2009
free.me Private Pre-Release $1,200 10/1/2009
rate.me Private Pre-Release $3,105 9/30/2009
drive.me Private Pre-Release $565 9/30/2009
know.me Private Pre-Release $764 9/30/2009
rescue.me Private Pre-Release $3,700 9/29/2009
answer.me Private Pre-Release $2,347 9/29/2009
protect.me Private Pre-Release $3,550 9/29/2009
chat.me Private Pre-Release $810 9/28/2009
monitor.me Private Pre-Release $2,600 9/28/2009
photo.me Private Pre-Release $640 9/28/2009
rifle.me Private Pre-Release $78 9/28/2009
tones.me Private Pre-Release $69 9/28/2009
employer.me Private Pre-Release $78 9/28/2009
specialty.me Private Pre-Release $78 9/28/2009

It appears as if a real preference is being established for brandable .ME names. Standard keywords simply don't generate enough bidders. Notice on the weaker auctions for Tones, Employer, Specialty and Rifle, that these names would have made a much better showing in any other TLD. Drive.ME was a bit surprising for such a low mark and perhaps some of the euphoria for .ME is limited and good deals can still be found. However, it also shows that a top ME domain has top dollar potential.

As reported by Davine in our Namejet auction for week ending 9/20/2009, CheapYachts.com was sold for $1,979. The winner of the auction at that time was "skyblue99" who had set an high auto-bid which was not surpassed during the auction.

On Namepros, one of our readers commented that cheap yachts wasn't so cheap. Apparently skyblue thought the same thing and defaulted on the winning bid. Cheap Yachts is now up for reauction which will conclude Friday October 2nd 2009.

Update: CheapYachts.com was reauctioned and went for $1,700 on the second go-round. Winning bidder was Taryn. We were in this auction for a client but gave up after $1,000.

If you are interested in bidding on any auction which is not in your watchlist, please Contact us. We charge a 15% commission to act as your bidder on private Namejet, Snap and Pool auctions. Please keep in mind you must agree to the terms of our Proxy Bidding service.

sla.net Pre-Release $1,533 9/19/2009

Some sales that stand out include:

GrandBank.com - Clearly a category killer for Banking with at least one bank in every state utilizing the name "Grand Bank" based on SEs.

Villages.net - Due to some recent weakness in the .net market between domainers, this excellent domain went for less than it probably would have gotten two or three years ago.

Sawgrass.com - A very common corporate name. Clearly only for resale to end users.
